Dear all
i was installing oracsle9iAS on a windows xp machine named "Alfa", during the setup i get an error saying that the computer name needs to be fully qualified like Alfa.something.bla like a domain computer , also it says to edit the host file

is it a requirement that the computer join a domain in order to setup oracle9iAS ?
thanks

Since the release of Oracle 8i/9i It is must that ur machine name is fully qualified domain name. It is not must that machine should b member is any domain. u can give the FQDN for example abc.home.org it is enough.
