Hey folks,

Long time DBA but total noob to Data Guard here

I am supposed to turn in a ROM (Rough Order of Magnitude) estimate tomorrow on how many DBA hours it will take to set up a Data Guard standby fail over DB on 10gR2 (non-RAC).

I have been perusing different papers and websites for a couple of hours now and it has been a little frustrating. Quite a bit of info available for 9i but be darned if I can find much on 10g other than overviews and FAQs.

I have been looking for a little meat on exactly what I have to do to get an idea of how long it will take to get going. That has been a frustrating search so far.

So I was wondering if any one could venture an opinion. Remember this is a ROUGH estimate. A week? A month? 2 months?

If anyone knows where *10g* Data Guard docs are that would be a real bonus too!

Thanks a bunch in advance,
Rob

Oracle docs link for Data guard

http://oraclesvca2.oracle.com/docs/cd/B19306_01/server.102/b14239/toc.htm

You just need to register for free on Oracle's website to access the above mentioned link.

And i believe 1 week would be enough to implement it.

Note : I implemented it on a test machine just for learning, no implementation in production environment.
