Hi,

We have a database server in production with the following characteristics:

- Oracle Version: Oracle 10g 2 Windows be reread itanium 64 bit YOU
-Windows 2003 Enterprise Edition 64-bit Itanium

We would like to provide high availability at Oracle instance level adding a new X64 (not Itanium) "standb by" way. Could someone indicate me if this configuration is possible? Where i could find documentation to implement (if possible) this architecture?

Thanks,

It may or may not be possible, but it is definitely not recommended. You should implement standby on the same type of systems (same architecture & OS versions). If you cannot use an Itanium system for your standby, it is probably better not to do it al all.

Best of luck.

You are on Oracle 10g. Heterogeneous standby is a new feature of 11g.
