I want to use a trigger to set off a Procedure , which takes a long time to run, and would not like to hold up users online.

Wondering if I include the call to the procedure in the trigger body, will the procedure hold up frond end application until the it has completed execution ?

If so then I need to run this procedure in the background. Do I need to use the DBMS_JOB to schedule this process to be run in the background or is there any other way.

I have not used DBMS_JOB before and just would like to know if it can be appied in my case.

Thanks
