Hi , I need some immediate help with installing an Oracle8.1.6 database which can support multiple languages. Right now I do have an Oracle8.1.6 installed on Linux with the NLS_Characterset as WE8ISO8859P1. But when I change the language (NLS_Language) session variable with the "Alter Session" command , I am not able to enable the new language settings. For example : The current language in the database is American english, when I try to change the setting using the command SQL>Alter session set nls_language = French; I find no difference. Any diagnosis to this problem? How do I make sure my database has been installed to handle multiple languages? (please send me a private mail about your suggestions if you don't mind to amraju@usa.net.) Hope we get to a solution , Thanks in advance.
