Please help! I am a new user studying for the DBO exam. I am trying to follow Jason Couchman's book DBO Certification Exam Guide. In chapter three it gives the step to create a tnsnames file using Net8 assistant. I create the file but when I go to test it I constantly get: ora-12560:TNS: protocol adapter error. What am I doing wrong. I am running Oracle 8.1.5 on Windows NT. Any help would be appreciated.

Is there anything else that it could possibly be? I manually put in the SID but I am still getting the same error.

What protocol your using, and check that protocol is installed or not.
