I am getting data from a mainframe that recognizes dates as a string format. We can use the to_date string conversion to convert the string to date format within Oracle. I am wandering if there are any validation functions I can use in case the string format MM-DD-YYYY is "01002000". This would be illegal but the mainframe does not pick these entries up. Can anyone suggest anything?
