Hi all,

Since Michel Cadot, the forum moderator,
hasn't answered any of my personal messages sent to him on 21th of July,
I'm posting this here. Hope someone can guide me through this. Thanks in advance.

I am studying for the OCA Certification - the 051 SQL Fundamentals exam.

I've downloaded exams from http://www.examcollection.com/1Z0-051.html ,
And when I solve & look at the answers,
I sometimes come across "right answers" provided by the exam software,
Which seem not reasonable, even when I double check those.

for example, Given the table:

name NULL TYPE
----------------------
EMP_ID NOT NULL NUMBER
EMP_NAME NOT NULL VARCHAR2(40)
EMP_IMAGE LONG

I was supposed to mark the true sentences regarding this table.

one of the options was:
"You can alter the table to include the NOT NULL constraint on the EMP_IMAGE column"

this answer was marked as *NOT* true by the exam software,
Yet, I've tried and saw that I *can* alter a LONG column to not null.

I would like to consult forum members regarding different
questions related to Questions & Answers I encounter, such as this one.

Where can I do that in the forum? Just open a topic for every question I have?
or open a general topic and ask & discuss whatever I want there?

Please advise.

Regards,
Andrey

If you have a question about SQL, post it in SQL forum.
If you have a question about backup or recovery, post in Backup & Recovery forum.
...
And for interview or certification questions, also post what you tried, what is your opinion and base on what (for instance, link to the documentation).
Do not just expect we answer the question without showing us you first tried to get the answer by yourself.

Edit: And do not forget to format your post.

Regards
Michel

Yes.

With regard to your question, you have proved how useless these "exam" questions are.

And by the way, I wouldn't answer personal messages, either. Specially not at the weekend. Unless you want to pay for consultancy, at the out-of-hours rate.

John - my question to Michel was regarding *where and how to post topic-related questions*,
I didn't expect a personal reply regarding something technical.

And ignoring me twice by a forum moderator is not serious.

I'll just post each question in a different topic,
since I get no answer to my (very simple!) question.

I've just had a look at the Examcollection website you mention, it is one of the illegal ones. I've reported them to the appropriate authorities.
I hope you are aware that you risk having your qualifications revoked if you are discovered to have used such resurces.

What I do here I do it for free on my rest time; I owe you nothing.
As another moderator used to say here, "With free advice, you get what you paid for it".

No, I wasn't aware of this until now, I thought it's a legitimate free site.
If this is the case, I will stop using it.

Audrey:

Basically, if you can get information about an Oracle certification test for free, one of three things is almost certainly true:

1. The information is illegal (i.e. it is copyrighted information that has been stolen and posted without the author's consent).
2. The information is illegitimate for use in tests (i.e. it is a brain dump information from the test). As John said, this can cost you your certification status.
3. It is useless because the information is incorrect.

The above are not exclusive. Brain dumps meet all three because the content they were made from is copyrighted by Oracle, proscribed for use, and often contains errors.

Thanks, I will take that into account.
As I said, I will look for a legitimate and legal way to study for the certification.

Andrey
